The Hurley House

We are a space for exploration and transformation in the Lower Catskills .

About

The Hurley House is a new endeavor aspiring to create a community space in the Lower Catskills. We've purchased an old 22-room boarding house built in the 1850s. We are currently renovating it and animating it with events, retreats, and a supportive community.

Our Mission

There are two parts to our mission. First, we aspire to nurture and inspire new forms of collective living. We do this by hosting community gatherings and events, with an emphasis on personal healing and collective connection. (Check out our events page for upcoming dates.)

We also offer the space as a resource for underserved communities in New York. Currently we are in partnership with All Kings, a NYC-based non-profit dedicated to the growth and empowerment of formerly incarcerated men, and Remix Culture, a non-profit organization dedicated to documenting and remixing the musical traditions and stories of underrepresented communities. We hope to cultivate new partners soon.

Our Organization

We are a volunteer-run organization, currently applying for non-profit status in New York State. Our 6-person Steering Circle makes decisions about our programming, our renovation efforts, and our long-term vision. Our Support Circle is a group of dedicated volunteers who support us in developing and running events, projects, and fundraising efforts. Over a hundred other people have volunteered their time, energy, and ideas. Join a community weekend to get involved!

Our Steering Circle: Megan McCormick, Kevin Wall, Julia DeWitt, Aaron D’Arcy, Ali Van Putten, Josh Rasp
